lyrics of the week

I give you this song from Godspell without comment.

Alas For You

[JESUS]
Alas alas for you
Lawyers and pharisees
Hypocrits that you be
Searching for souls and fools to forsake them
You travel the land you scour the sea
After you've got your converts you make them
Twice as fit for hell!
As you are yourselves!

Alas, alas for you
Lawyers and pharisees
Hypocrits that you are
Sure that the kingdom of Heaven awaits you
You will not venture half so far
Other men who might enter the gates you
Keep from passing through!
Drag them down with you!
You snakes, you viper's brood
You cannot escape being Devil's food!

I send you prophets, I send you preachers
Sages and rages and ages of teachers
Nothing can bar your mood

Alas, alas for you
Lawyers and pharisees
Hypocrits to a man
Sons of the dogs who murdered the prophets
Finishing off what your fathers began
You don't have time to scorn and to scoff
It's getting very late!
Vengence doesn't wait!
You snakes, you viper's brood
You cannot escape being Devil's food!

I send you prophets, I send you preachers
Sages and rages and ages of teachers
Nothing can bar your mood
Blind guides, blind fools
The blood you spilt
On you will fall!

This nation, this generation
Will bear the guilt of it all!

Alas, alas alas for you! Blind fools!!

a song for christmas part 4

The Night Santa Went Crazy by Weird Al Yankovich

Down in the workshop all the elves were making toys
For the good Gentile girls and the good Gentile boys
When the boss busted in, nearly scared 'em half to death
Had a rifle in his hands and cheap whiskey on his breath
From his beard to his boots he was covered with ammo
Like a big fat drunk disgruntled Yuletide Rambo
And he smiled as he said with a twinkle in his eye
"Merry Christmas to all - now you're all gonna die!"

The night Santa went crazy
The night Saint Nick went insane
Realized he'd been getting the RAW deal
Somethin' finally must've snapped in his brain

Well, the workshop is gone now, he decided to bomb it
Everywhere you'll find pieces of Cupid and Comet
And he tied up his helpers, and he held the elves hostage
And he ground up poor Rudolph into reindeer sausage
He got Dancer and Prancer with an old German Luger
And he slashed up Dasher just like Freddy Krueger
And he picked up a flamethrower and he barbecued Blitzen
And he took a big bite and said "It tastes just like chicken!"

The night Santa went crazy
The night Kris Kringle went nuts
Now, ya can't hardly walk around the North Pole
Without steppin' in reindeer guts

There's the National Guard and the FBI
There's a van from the Eyewitness News
In a helicopter circlin' 'round in the sky
And the bullets are flying the body count's rising
And everyone’s dying to know -"Oh Santa, why?"
My, my, my, my, my, my - you used to be such a jolly guy.

Yes Virginia, now Santa's doing time
In a Federal prison for his infamous crime
Hey little friend now, don't you cry no more tears
He'll be out on good behaviour in seven hundred more years.

But now Vixen's in therapy and Donner's still nervous
And the elves all got jobs working for the postal service
And they say Mrs. Claus she's on the phone every night
With a lawyer negotiating the movie rights.
(They talk about)

The night Santa went crazy
The night Saint Nicholas flipped
Broke his back for some milk and cookies
Sounds to me like he was tired of getting gypped

Wo, The night Santa went crazy
The night Saint Nick went insane
Realized he'd been gettin' the RAW deal
Somethin' finally must've snapped in his brain
Wo, Somethin' finally must've snapped in his brain
Tell ya, somethin' finally must've snapped in his brain.

Health Care Debate Down to the Wire in Senate

Today marks the end of the last full week until the end of year break for our congress, but they still have a lot to talk about it seems. For months now our Congress has wanted to pass some form of health care reform before the end of the year, yet it is coming down to the wire. After the bill got through in the house with 220 to 215 vote we learned it would be a hard fight, no matter what side of the debate you are on. Now with the public option gone the Dems. have 59 votes. One away from the 60 they need to close the debate and pass health care reform. All eyes are on one Democrat holdout (shown above) senator Ben Nelson from Nebraska. Easily the most conservative Democrat in the senate, he has refused to vote for the bill until stronger abortion restrictions are implemented and all payment of abortion by taxpayers is taken out of the bill. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and President Barack Hussein Obama have both been speaking with Senator Nelson and discussing his possible support.
Last week marked an important week for health care reform. Senator Joe Lieberman of Connecticut stated that he would no longer support health care until the "public option" was removed. With few other options, the Dems had to drop the long debated public option.
Throughout this debate Republicans, led by Senator John McCain and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, have been doing all they can to pass amendments, slow the debate, and in any way possible stop health care reform.
Now with little time and not enough votes will the bill still be passed by Christmas as proposed? Without a public option and after many compromises the bill is a shadow of its former self, but will Dems. in Congress be able to get even this through? We will soon see. For now it seems Ben Nelson is key to all of this.

christmas song part 3

Another Stephen Colbert song

Another Christmas Song

Ho! It’s another Christmas song
Whoa! Get ready brother for another Christmas song
They play for a month, Ad infinitum
One day it struck me someone must write ‘em
So! It’s another Christmas song

Santa clause singing on naughty snow
Reindeer ringing in the mistletoe
The manger’s on fire,
The holly’s a-glow
Hear the baby Jesus cryin’ ho ho ho

Hey! It’s another Christmas song
Yay! Another oft’ returning
Royalty earning Christmas song
I’ve got plenty more so go buy a modem
Log on to iTunes and pay to download ‘em
Pay! For another Christmas song

Chestnuts glisten on a silent night
Sleigh-bells kissing by candle light
The tree is frozen, the winter’s bright
Who’d have thought the wise men look so white

You! Don’t you wanna sing along?
To! My humble yule tide
Dreamed up pool side
Christmas song
Make it a part of your holiday canon
Make it the heart of my retirement plan and
Do! Sing another Christmas song

BEAT IT INTO ‘EM FELLAS!
WATCH MY FEET FLY!

But wait! Who’s this?

Young ones starving on a dead-end street
Taped up tabloids on their frost-bit feet
Hear what they carol as they huddle for heat

[All children:]
Please help the “Colbert Children” eat

Whoa! Just another Christmas song
No! This is like no other Christmas-mother-lovin’-song
Public to whom I'm so proud to have pandered
Please save my family and make this a standard
Go! Join the ever-growing throng
Who are singing
And swingin’
While my kids are clinging to the hope
My register’s ching-ching chinging from the cash I’m bringing
From another Christmas song

Love it!!!

song for christmas part 2

This is from Stephen Colbert's Christmas Musical Special. This is a song that he sung as a duet with Elvis Costello

Much Worse Things to Believe In

Elvis: There are cynics, there are skeptics

There are legions of dispassionate dyspeptics

Who regard this time of year as a maudlin insincere

Cheezy crass commercial travesty of all that we hold dear

Stephen: When they think that

Well, I can hear it

But I pity them their lack of Christmas spirit

For in a world like ours, take it from Stephen

There are much worse things to believe in.

Elvis: A redeemer and a savior, an obese man giving toys for good behavior

Stephen: The faith in what might be and the hope that we might see

The answer to all sorrow in a box beneath the tree

Find them foolish

Elvis: Sentimental

Stephen: Well you're clearly none too bright

Both: so we'll be gentle

Stephen: Don't even try to start vaguely conceiving

Both: Of all much worse things to believe in

Stephen: Believe in the judgment, believe in Jihad

Believe in a thousand variations on a dark and spiteful god

Elvis: You've got your money, you've got your power

You've got your science, and all the planets going to end within the hour

Stephen: You've got your dreams that don't come true

Elvis: You've got the ones that do

Stephen: Then you've got your nothing

Both: Some folks believe in nothing

But if you believe in nothing

Then what's to keep the nothing from coming for you

Stephen: Merry Christmas, Happy New Year

Now if you'll forgive me there's a lot to do here

There are stockings still unhung

Colored lights I haven't strung

Elvis: And a one-man four-part Christmas carol waiting to be sung

Stephen: Call me silly, call me sappy

Call me many things, the first of which is happy

You doubt, but you're sad

I don't, but I'm glad

Both: I guess we're even

Stephen: At least that's what I believe in

Both: And there are much worse things

a song for christmas

Here is the first edition in my contemporary Christmas song series.

A Christmas Song
Dave Mathews Band
She was his girl; he was her boyfriend
She be his wife; take him as her husband
A surprise on the way, any day, any day
One healthy little giggling dribbling baby boy
The wise men came three made their way
To shower him with love
While he lay in the hay
Shower him with love love love
Love love love
Love love is all around
Not very much of his childhood was known
Kept his mother Mary worried
Always out on his own
He met another Mary for a reasonable fee, less than
Reputable as known to be

His heart was full of love love love
Love love love
Love love is all around
When Jesus Christ was nailed to the his tree
Said "oh, Daddy-o I can see how it all soon will be
I came to she'd a little light on this darkening scene
Instead I fear I spill the blood of my children all around"

The blood of our children all around
The blood of our children all around
The blood of our children all around
So the story goes, so I'm told
The people he knew were
Less than golden hearted
Gamblers and robbers
Drinkers and jokers, all soul searchers
Like you and me

Rumors insisited he soon would be
For his deviations
Taken into custody by the authorities
Less informed than he.
Drinkers and jokers. all soul searchers
Searching for love love love
Love love love
Love love is all around

Preparations were made
For his celebration day
He said "eat this bread and think of it as me
Drink this wine and dream it will be
The blood of our children all around
The blood of our children all around"
The blood of our children all around

Father up above, why in all this anger have you fill
Me up with love
Fill me love love love
Love love love
Love love
And the blood of our children all around

Hello

I am Alex, and I am here today to tell all my fellow bloggers that I will now be increasing the amount of sanity that I inject to this blog. Before I was only commenting like most of us, but now I have been made a contributor by Rock4ever95, and will be adding more of my 2 cents worth.

so be careful of those killing in Jesus name, he don't believe in killing at all

So there is this bill in Uganda that will put gay people in prison for life and those who don't report them in prison for three years. Also if the gay person is HIV positive they will be put to death. What's most disturbing about this issue is that Rev. Rick Warren announced his support of this bill and the secret Christian Organization the Family is helping to get it passed.

I have something to ask all these so called Christians, what did Jesus teach? What was the golden rule? What did he say to do when someone hits you on one cheek? WHAT DID HE SAY ABOUT LOVE?!!!!! How do you think God reacted to the Holocaust!st? And now you think that God wants you to put all Gay people in prison?

Jesus was a man of love and this is a law of hate, pure and simple. I call on all Christians to speak out against this bill which is the total and complete opposite of everything that Jesus taught. To Quote Bono "God will not accept that. Mine won't. Will yours?"

This is a bill of Genocide, plain and simple, and no one can honestly say that the Christian God is in favor of Genocide. This bill is sacrilegious and an affront to humanity. If this bill is passed Christianity will be remembered as the religion that supported Genocide and I don't think any christian wants to be remembered that way. Ask you minister to make a statement against it, God and History will thank you for it.

And That's the Way it Is.

lyrics of the week

"21st Century Breakdown"
By Green Day

Born into Nixon I was raised in hell
A welfare child
Where the teamsters dwelled
The last one born
The first one to run
My town was blind from refinery sun

My generation is zero
I never made it
As a working class hero

21st Century Breakdown
I once was lost but never was found
I think I am losing
What's left of my mind
To the 20th century deadline

I was made of poison and blood
Condemnation is what I understood

Videogames of the towers fall
Homeland security
Could kill us all

We are the class of '13
Born in the era of humility
We are the desperate in the decline
Raised by the bastards of 1969

My name is no one
The long lost son
Born on the 4th of July
Raised in the era of heroes and cons
That left me for dead or alive

I am a nation
A worker of pride
My debt to the status quo

The scars on my hands
And the means to an ends
Is all the that I have to show

I swallowed my pride
And I choked on my faith
I've given my heart and my soul
I've broken my fingers
And lied through my teeth
The pillar of damage control

I've been to the edge
And I've thrown the bouquet
Of flowers left over the grave
I sat in the waiting room
Wasting my time
And waiting for judgement day

I praise liberty
The "freedom to obey"
Is the song that strangles me
Don't cross the line

Dream, America dream
I can't even sleep
From the light's early dawn

Scream, America scream
Believe what you see
From heroes and cons

Green Day (along with the White Stripes) is among one of the greatest bands to come of age in the past ten years, hands down.

Quote of the Day

"When [Obama] arrived and saw me he said, 'They told me you were here.' And gave me the split fingered Vulcan sign."

----Leonard Nimoy, or Mr. Spock

God No!!

So like many people I am shocked and outraged at President Obama. He's taking so long to decide how many young Americans we are going to send off to fight and die in a foreign country. How Dare He?! How Dare He Think About An Issue Such As This?! How Dare He Deliberate?! How Dare He Discuss This Issue With, I don't know, Experts?!

We didn't see President Bush do this, and we all know how well he ran the country. There were no problems during his term. And that was because he didn't bother to talk to any people who, you know, know anything about the issue. He just made a decision and acted on it, no matter what the facts were.

And that worked out so well.

Obama should take a page out of President Bush's playbook and just make a decision that will affect the country for decades to come on the spur of the moment. How Could That Possibly Go Wrong?
