John Edwards, hypocrite of the year

We all know John Edwards as an estranged Democrat womanizing jerk. I was watching a CNN round-table discussion of Mr. Edwards lunacy, I feel a special connection to him as he both was a Senator from my state and the first politician I ever heard speak, and they showed a picture of him speaking with a podium under him that said "Father of the Year".

So, I Googled it, and yes, John " I made a serious error in judgment" Edwards was named Father of the Year for 2007, a full year after he started his liaison with Miss Reille "You're so hot" Hunter, and I don't care if I spelled her name wrong.

How great of father is John Edwards being while he continues to wreck his youngest child's life by denying that he is the father? The "Father of the Year" is continually denying that he is a father with some responsibilities. The "Father of the Year" wants to marry another woman after his wife dies. The "Father of the Year" wants the Dave Mathews Band to play at his rooftop wedding.

I wonder if he still has the plaque up in his house. If he does, I say we go take it. John "Narcissism" Edwards does not deserve any award for parenting.

In an unconnected story, Gov. Mark Sanford was award the "Husband of the Year Award" last night.

And that's the way it is.

A message to Ex-President Carter

Jimmy Carter made headlines last week when he said that most of the criticism directed at President is fueled by racism. I am one-hundred percent certain that you have already heard that statement, and the fact that Obama disagrees with President Carter.

I have a great deal of respect for James Carter, I think he is a great elder-statesman, but shut the heck up, okay? I mean seriously, the President wants to push Health Care not have an absurd discussion about whether every critic of Obama is a racist.

Mr. Carter is causing trouble for no earthly reason, I mean "Most" of the criticism is racist. According to
Maureen Dowd, Joe Wilson did not yell "You Lie" or "Lie" but "You Lie, Boy". Ms. Dowd, author of the totally un-offensive book "Are Men Necessary? When Sexes Collide."(I have not read it and don't plan too, but I don't know if it's as offensive as it sounds so don't get all angry at me for victimizing Ms. Dowd), made that up.

I am sorry to say it, but she did. There is no way she could make out the word "Boy" in that statement. I couldn't even make out the word "You". Ms. Dowd made that statement up, she made it up to market her column. And the country suffered for it.

Barack Obama probably wants to pull a Dick Cheney on these guys. The poor man has hit the television circuit to push health care and all anyone wants to talk about is "Racism".

We must get a health care bill through, and I for one don't want to force people to vote for it because if they don't I'll call them racist. That makes us no better than the Republicans. Stop, Shut Up, and then pass the bill. And let the President talk about Health Care.

lyrics of the week

These are the lyrics to a great song by the folk band The Indigo Girls, who, incidentally I'm going to see in concert in a few days.

Three Hits

three hits to the heart son
and it's poetry in motion
one could send you down the river
three's a strange way to be delivered

would you trade your words for freedom
that's a barter for a blind man
three hits to the heart son
and it's poetry in motion

are you levee'd like a treasure
only words can help me find you
and this world's a fickle measure
I would painfully remind you

from a wise man to your red hand
you lay covered ion our best sins
three hits to the heart son
and it's poetry in motion

well I dream you constant stranger
with your best bloods and your anger
you say mother do you claim me
my beloved do you blame me

well the first two might release you
but the last one sings in me son
three hits to the heart son
and it's poetry in motion

three hits to the heart son
and the last one sings in me

this song is about the American poet Frank Stanford.

A rant to end all rants

Yesterday, Nancy Pelosi said that the violent rhetoric coming from the republicans could be dangerous. She said that she had seen the outcome of violent rhetoric before, in the 70s with the assassination of Harvey Milk. Minority leader John Boehner responded by saying that America was in the middle of a revolution.

Now, I feel the need to remind Rep. Boehner something. The last time Americans rebelled 1,200,000 people died, half of them civilians. Are you that arrogant, Mr Boehner? Do you think that your opinions are worth the cost of over a million lives? When you carry signs that say "Let's bury Obamacare with Kennedy" and tee-shirts that say "Civil Liberty or civil war" how long do you think it will be before some nutcase decides to bury Obamacare with Kennedy. With a gun.

I can tell you this, Rep. Boehner, if there is a revolution, I know who goes up against the wall first. I know who's door I will kick down first. Do you think history will thank you for this? Do you think history will even remember you? You have the choice to be remembered as the brave conservative who worked with the Liberal President for the good of the country. Please choose that Rep. Boehner, be remembered as a hero and not a villain.

Rant now done.

Just to clear this up, I do not want to shoot Mr. Boehner I was just making a point that the public will not thank him if he starts a revolution. I would never kick down his door and shoot him. No matter how much of an uninformed idiot he is.

Do not censure Joe Wilson

I know that the title might catch you by surprise, but I am against censuring Rep. Wilson. To quote Barney Frank, a Democrat of Massachusetts, “I think it’s bad precedent to put us in charge of deciding whether people act like jerks,”

Rep. Wilson crossed the line, but instead of refuting what he actually said, which is untrue, the Democrats are focusing on how he said it. They saw on opportunity to hit the Republicans. However, the could have hit them harder if they went on the talk shows and criticized what he said, not how he said it.

The American Public is not stupid, they know that jumping up and yelling at the President is unacceptable, what they might not know is that the Health Care Plan does not cover Vulcans, Klingons, or any other type of alien. The Democrats need to tell them that.

I have not heard a single Congressman say that Joe Wilson was wrong. Keith Obermann did, Rachel Maddow did, but no elected official did. So it looks to the average uninformed American that Joe Wilson was totally right in what he said, but not in the way he said it.

That's not okay. Make the Republicans apologize for Wilson's actions and hit them hard on the actual information behind the outburst. Also, the pundits should stop crying racism at Joe Wilson. It has gotten so that anyone who criticizes the President is a racist, that is just silly.

Joe Wilson would have shouted at Joe Biden if he were President, and if Hillary Clinton was president Wilson would have shouted at her as well. He is just a man who has no respect for people who disagree with him. He is not racist, or at least we can't assume he is racist just because he shouted "You Lie"at the President.

lyrics of the week

This song is called I want it all by Queen

Adventure seeker on an empty street
Just an alley creeper light on his feet
A young fighter screaming with no time for doubt
With the pain and anger cant see a way out
It aint much Im asking I heard him say
Gotta find me a future move out of my way
I want it all I want it all I want it all and I want it now
I want it all I want it all I want it all and I want it now

Listen all you people come gather round
I gotta get me a game plan gotta shake you to the ground
Just give me what I know is mine
People do you hear me just give me the sign
It aint much Im asking if you want the truth
Heres to the future for the dreams of youth
I want it all (give it all) I want it all I want it all and I want
It now
I want it all (yes I want it all) I want it all (hey)
I want it all and I want it now

Im a man with a one track mind
So much to do in one life time (people do you hear me)
Not a man for compromise and wheres and whys and living
Lies
So Im living it all (yes Im living it all)
And Im giving it all (and Im giving it all)

Yeah yeah
Yeah yeah yeah yeah
I want it all all all all

It aint much Im asking if you want the truth
Heres to the future
Hear the cry of youth (hear the cry hear the cry of youth)
I want it all I want it all I want it all and I want it now
I want it all (yeah yeah yeah) I want it all I want it all and i
Want it now

I want it
Now
I want it I want it

lyrics of the week

These are the lyrics for Rockin in the Free World but Neil Young

There are colors on the street, red, white and blue
People shufflin' their feet, people sleepin' in their shoes
But there's a warnin' sign on the road ahead
There's a lot of people sayin' we'd be better off dead
Don't feel like Satan but I'm to them
So I try to forget it anyway I can

Keep on rockin' in the free world
Keep on rockin' in the free world
Keep on rockin' in the free world
Keep on rockin' in the free world

I see a woman in the night with a baby in her hand
Under an old street light near a garbage can
Now, she's put the kid away and she's gone to get a hit
She hates her life and what she's done to it
That's one more kid that'll never go to school
Never get to fall in love, never get to be cool

Keep on rockin' in the free world
Keep on rockin' in the free world
Keep on rockin' in the free world
Keep on rockin' in the free world

We got a thousand points of light for the homeless man
We got a kindler, gentler, machine gun hand
We've got department stores and toilet paper
Got styrofoam garbage for the ozone layer
Got a man of the people says keep hope alive
Got fuel to burn, got roads to drive

Keep on rockin' in the free world
Keep on rockin' in the free world
Keep on rockin' in the free world

He changed the Lyric of "Got a man of the people who says keep hope alive" in a recent show to "Got a man of the people who says yes we can"

a quote for the politicians out there

I give this quote to everyone in Washington and around the world. Both liberals or conservatives.

This is a quote often attributed to Abraham Lincoln.

"You can fool some of the people all of the time, and all of the people some of the time, but you can not fool all of the people all of the time. "

In these days of network television and political pundints, and when we view speeches about working hard and setting goals as socialist indoctrination, we need to keep this quote in mind. Because at some time, hopefully soon, America will wake up. And when that happens the liars will not be in good standing.

Okay, pretentious rant over.

My next post, just to give you a little teaser is on the school speech that Obama will be giving.

Until then, I want to wish you Good Night and Good Luck.

lyrics of the week

This is the Live version of a song called Bullet in the Blue Sky.

I bet you can't guess what band did it without googling it.

In the howling wind comes a stinging rain
See them driving nails into the souls on the tree of pain
From the firefly, red orange glow
I see the face of fear running scared in the valley below

Sky
Sky
Bullet the blue sky / Sky
Bullet the blue sky / Sky
Bullet the blue / Sky
Bullet the blue / Sky

In the locust wind comes a rattle and hum
Jacob wrestled the angel and the angel was overcome
You plant a demon seed, you raise a flower of fire
I see them burning crosses
See the flames higher and higher

Sky
Sky
Bullet the blue sky / Sky
Bullet the blue sky / Sky
Bullet the blue / Sky
Bullet the blue / Sky

(Yeah... alright, I want you)

So this guy comes up to me
His face red like a rose on a thorn bush
Like all the colours of a royal flush
And he's peeling off those dollar bills
Slapping 'em down
One hundred
Two hundred

And I can see those fighter planes
I can see those fighter planes
Across the mud huts where the children sleep
Through the valleys and the quiet city street
We take the staircase to the first floor
We turn the key and slowly unlock the door
A man breathes into a saxophone
And through the walls we hear the city groan
Outside it's America
Outside it's America

So I'm back in my hotel room with John Coltrane and the love supreme
In the next room I hear some woman scream out that her lover's
Turning off, turning on the television.
And I can't tell the difference between ABC news, Hill Street Blues
And a preacher on the old time gospel hour
Stealing money from the sick and the old
Well the God I believe in isn't short of cash, mister

I feel a long way from the hills of San Salvador
Where the sky is ripped open
And the rain pours through a gaping wound
Pelting the women and children
Pelting the women and children

Who run... who run...
Into the arms... of America

I love the line "Well the god I believe in isn't short of cash, mister" I also like how the author, who shall remain nameless at this time, sums up the hypocrisy of America with the line "Outside it's America!"

Hello.

Hello, I'm roguewriter, and I will be the guest blogger for the Liberal Rocker for the weekend, as rock4ever95 is out of town, and I’m the best he could come up with on rather short notice. I will do my best to fill his shoes and I look forward to hearing your comments and opinions and constructive critique if you have any.

I'd say this is an honor I never expected, and I didn't. I'd also say that to be able to contribute to such a great blog is wonderful, but you've probably already heard that before, so I won't say it.

Thank you.

Not another rant about Sarah Pailin

And I mean that. I never thought that I would actually defend her, but I am. In a new article Levi Johnston, Mrs. Pailin's daughter's ex-boyfriend, wrote horrible things about her.

He claims that she demanded to adopt the baby, always stayed in her room, made the kids do all the cooking, and worst of all, does not know how to use a gun.

Mr. Johnston, I want to ask you an honest question, do you want to see your child? If so, you are going about it in the totally wrong way. I'll say it a simply as I can for you Mr. Johnston, if you want to see your child you do not go on TV and write libel about her.

It seems to me that Levi Johnston is more interested in making himself famous than the well-being of his child. When things finally come to court, Mr. Johnston, who do you think the judge will rule with? The nice upstanding young woman who's only drawback is being related to Sarah Pailin, or a young man who goes on every talk show and writes articles about how bad the grandmother of his child is? Who do you think the judge will rule with?

I'll give you some free advice Mr. Johnston, go away. Go far away. Stay home and work out your problems with Ms. Pailin. Think about the well-being of your child instead of you ego.

People are nuts

Yeah, yeah I know that's not very original, but I heard the weirdest news story today. This guy is in Wal-Mart and a woman has a screaming toddler in the aisle with him. He walks over and tells her, and I quote "shut your kid up or I will." He then slaps the two year old across the face four times.

Okay, and I mean this in utmost seriousness, is they guy totally insane? It's bad enough when you see a parent hitting their kid, but when a strange hits your kid that is totally, totally, over the line.

That man is now in court for a felony charge. And I hope they lock him away for his own good.

quote of the day

"There is a mysterious cycle in human events. To some generations much is given. Of other generations much is expected. This generation of Americans has a rendezvous with destiny."---Franklin D. Roosevelt
